PocketStatics is a structural analysis program for the
PocketPC. PocketStatics can be used to
solve most statics problems including statically determinate and indeterminate
trusses and frames with any number of elements and degrees of freedom.
PocketStatics is very interactive, and simulates to
a great degree working with an engineering pad and a pencil. Toolbars are very
intuitive, and the structure can be simply sketched on the screen using the
stylus. The program automatically computes and displays results whenever any
changes are made to the structure. The user can select to view deflected shape,
reactions, moment diagram, shear diagram, or axial force.
The user can apply concentrated forces and moments, as well
as constant and linearly varying distributed loads along frame elements. Frame
elements can be specified to have moment releases on one end or on both ends.
Translational and rotational degrees of freedom can be
individually fixed for each node. Common boundary conditions (pin, roller,
fixity) can be easily assigned through toolbar shortcuts.
The program displays the exact deformed shape and
force diagrams (moment, shear, axial), and locates the point with maximum
deformation or force. The value of the maximum deformation or force is also
shown which makes it easy to obtain results very quickly.
PocketStatics was developed from the ground up for
handheld devices which typically have less memory, slower processors, and less
powerful displays than their desktop counterparts. Hence, it is very efficient
and small in size, but it is extremely user-friendly and interactive unlike most
structural analysis programs.
PocketStatics 0.91 (Updated from
ver 0.90) Latest version as of January 4, 2005:
Please note that PocketStatics is
still under development. It may have features that do not work
yet, or some that do not work properly. This trial version will
expire on 1/1/2006. You will need to download and install a new
version on or before that date.
