Background: Although varieties of researches have been carried out in many aspects of in-sewer treatment, it has been found that the software of design and operation model is still not built in an easy approching way for users. This proposal is aimed to fulfil the in-sewer treatment in practicable of design and operation, which will be useful as a basis for further research development.
Aim: To provide a user-friendly computational basis for predicting the effects of engineered interventions on the characteristics of wastewater within sewers.
Objectives:
To review the field of biological modelling and understand the issues relevant to the prediction of wastewater characteristics in wastewater treatment plants.
To review the field of in-sewer modelling to identify current state of the art and key aspects of current models.
To learn to programme Delphi.
To re-programme an existing in-sewer model into an object oriented model, using Delphi, in order to establish a flexible basis for future model development.
To programme the ASM3 model in Delphi.
To link the existing in-sewer model with the ASM3 model, for the prediction of the effect of engineered manipulations of the sewer environment on wastewater characteristics.
To calibrate the model using published data.
To use the calibrated model to explore scenarios for in-sewer carbon removal.
To identify key gaps in knowledge requiring further research.
Scope: The scope was to develop an in-sewer model based on Activated Sludge Model no.3 (ASM3) (Henze, Gujer et al. 2000) and object-oriented programme (Inprise 1999) from an in-situ model (FORTRAN). In addition, calibrate the model from in-situ experimental data (Osuna 2001). Due to the lack of nitrogen data, only carbon calibration will be done.

Note !
During installation, some errors will show up . Just click ok, they are the errors that are not involved in the software calculation. During running the program, still have some bugs especially tabsheet named pipe.
