ConSpec is
a software tool to assist in the specification of concrete for
construction projects. The aim is to produce specifications
which are both concise and complete.
ConSpec has
two primary tasks:
1. It
specifies concrete for individual structural elements, according
to a standard such as BS5328.
2. It
reduces the number of mix specifications within a project to
minimise potential ambiguities and improve economies of scale
via a rationalisation process.
ConSpec is
written in MS Visual Basic v6, and stores data in two MS Access
databases. Users can create their own projects and sub-project
groups of concrete 'Elements'.
Each
Element can be fully specified by a user or based on an
extendable library of elements provided with the program.
ConSpec
lets you create users and assign passwords. Each user's
specification decisions are recorded in a log built by the
system, which can be printed.
When you
have finished specifying your Elements, you can print out one of
the standard BS5328 forms which can be sent to your concrete
supplier with no further editing outside the program.
